With MMJ coming to Raleigh, I had already abandoned any wary eyes at Peach, but after all this, I am stoked! Finished out with my man Yim Yames. Strange thing, I was watching the movie The Accountant on the plane today and it had the Jim James song AEIOU in it. I was stoked to hear that in a movie. How in the world did you not like Eternally Even? Was way better than his first one IMO.

No, no, he means this guy. I think he plays bass for a BTO cover band for extra cash on the weekends.

Trippy but not quite the same. And I remember how the Beech Mountain community treated the last batch of hippies that tried to hold a festival there. Admittedly the organizers were not first rate but still no thanks.

Also, the crowd it attracts is TERRIBLE!  It's too loud. Balloons EVERYWHERE.  Always begging for stuff, like they didn't even bring their own money at all. Whining at every little inconvenience. None of them the least bit subtle with their treats, half of them practically wearing it on their clothes!

Since I'm not big on either SCI or UM, and the music starts later in the day on FB Thursday, it give me the ability to roll in any time on Thursday and set up without feeling rushed to get to the music. One year I had both great view and sound of the main stage and could enjoy the less favorites from camp, and it was nice for setting up, tuning up, visitors, breaks, etc.

From what I understand, you have the pig through the python effect from 5 am through about noon, then traffic flow levels out. The check-in process is easier because the workers are more laid back, or tired. Thus not as thorough in the search process, not that I worry about contraband but it don't want to waste time or undo my tetris-like packing. And coming in later, I get a full night's sleep before the marathon begins; I have a three hour drive from home.  I can start with fresh ice.

So I'd rather have a less favorite at the start than be rushed not to miss a favorite.  Another reason I like the line-up and schedule.

The Avetts serving as Prine's backing band a la L2's WSP/Winwood set would be awesome. However, I don't see Prine adding that much to an Avett set. I think they need to bring in a hot guitar to help them jam out their own songs not a singer to make them play someone elses songs. Or a hot 3 string bass player.

Much as I love Prine, that was an early April Fool's. And frankly I think he'd reduce the energy level too much with a band like Avett's. He'd be better late afternoon with Susan T.
