I'm sure the headliners will disappoint some, but SCI has headlined Thursday before (with an Incident, which I believe they will still announce).  Phil has headlined before.  Avetts were always going to be a headliner (I'm sure some people aren't so high on that, but whatever) and Panic, while I'm not a fan, has such a strong backing that I'm not surprised they are a headliner.

honestly I am always looking for strength up and down the lineup and I am thrilled with this.  Of course it is local to me as well, so it would take a pretty big disappointment to move me off of Lockn every year.

I'm not a Panic fan, but I know many are, so that is fine.  Friday looks like the best night to me.  I like Sunday too.

Don't know if the stages will overlap but it won't be instantaneous to move the crowd from BRB to Main Stage, so may have to leave BRB a little early to catch the opening on main.

The Woods stage seems like it is gone.  I would guess that is the curfew compromise, but I don't know.

JRAD is perfect for late-night.  It also furthers my "No Dead music on main stage without original Dead members" theory.  I have no formal backing for that theory, but it has worked for 5 years.

There is a loyalty there between the promoters and the Dead guys; which is more than understandable on so many levels so I wouldn't be surprised if you're theory is correct even if it is an unspoken contractual term between them. He is a great late night don't get me wrong; I just think that after all these years he's earned it! Again my opinion only.

I was always hard pressed to make it over to the woods stage late night so that doesn't crush me either by any means; but I sure do hope it doesn't mean more overlapping music. Its a festival you can see it all but I really do love their setup compared to most large festivals! 

Very intrigued by the special guests and how the Umphreys & Cheese thing is going to go as well. I'm not a huge Umphreys guy and most of my days seeing them were in small 100-200 person crowds in our college town bar in Iowa; but they have definitely grown on me the last couple of years and shoot they can rip always have! So them mashing it up with Cheese could be some good times Im sure! Could even possibly see Fogerty sitting in on some of that craziness as I think both bands play some CCR.

Overall I am quite pleased. There will surely be a special Incident of some sort and two special guests will be interesting. TTB needs to sell out Wolf Trap so they can come.

I would be very surprised if that Mule special guest isn't Jim James. Seems silly to only have him come in for just a late afternoon set.

I don't think that is the issue.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think everybody just needs to prepare themselves.

Has he done that before?  I mean that sounds good to me.  And that same logic is part of what drives my Bobby/Avetts speculation.

That would be fun. My first thought was Marcus King since he's basically showing him the way in the industry. I do agree with your point though and think it would e fun to watch!

All I know, and this is probably a stretch, is that a band member told a friend of mine they were coming and could not announce yet. Could be wrong, don't know. So please don't rain on my parade anymore

I know, I really like the undercard, its just hard to justify the expense of flight, tickets, supplies, time off work to get there from New Orleans when there isn't really a whole lot we haven't seen there.  For example, when cheese headlined its usually something special, hopefully they still are adding a guest to that that will be really cool.  Panic isn't my thing but I wouldn't let that stop me. I suppose the phil & bob thing is supposed to be the "attention grabbing name" and it just does't really do that for me with the terrapin family band. (Wish it had been the Q personally).  

Just with all three of those, plus avetts in the same year, noot geared to my taste as much as in years past - thursday looks cool, Friday looks pretty legit with mule x 2 and JRAD and Terrapin Statoin and good early BRB shows. Saturday is pretty good with greensky, Fogerty & JRad and Sunday doesn't have a whole lot going on.  Maybe there will be a few key additions that will put it over the limit for me.

Would you speculate that the sets on Saturday may be a bit longer because less artists are listed? I need GREENSKY BLUEGRASS for more than one hour. I was hoping they'd get a lat night spot.

I see the logic, and wouldn't be surprised to see them play together at some point, but I don't think you can put Marcus King as "Special Guest."   I mean I think the kid is on a rocket-ship to stardom but he isn't there yet.
