Band announcements

To be honest, I'm not sure which version of UM I like or like not so much, proggy or jammy.   Again, they are good, just sometimes, its just something...

what I meant was, when there's a band with little to offer, its' a good time to go back to camp, take a shower, fix a G&T and some supper, get some shade. That's Wilco's raison d'etre.

Not sure if someone already posted so my apologies if so. According to this article, Avett Bros are in fact a headliner.

Ouch. I told y'all they were pretty big, but still I did not expect them to be considered a headliner for this. I'm still not sure if I think they will be, this article may be throwing around that term a little loosely but I guess we'll see.

I said the same thing about both Ween and MMJ. See how that worked out...I can think of worse things. If you aren't into them you head to BRB..

And I know that it doesn't really matter who are considered the "headliners," but they generally do get more time so I prefer it to be someone I'm into. But yeah it's not the end of the world to get to the BRB early. Unless of course they're on Sunday.

The last two times they played the Berglund Center (formely the Roanoke Civic Center) there has been less than 5,00 people there and the place looked empty.  Roanoke is only 90 minutes from Lockn, so I don't see the Avett's drawing a strong crowd from central/southwest Virginia.

Well, its been a week and I have been listening to all the announced artists. My initial impression was that I was extremely excited for this Lockn.

My impression after listening for a week is that I am EXTREMELY EXCITED for this Lockn. This lineup is packed with talent up and down the bill.

The only person I've listened to that i'm not excited about is Margo Price. And probably Pigeons, but I'm assuming they will be put on the Woods stage.

Is that 500 or 5,000? Dont know how big the Berglund Center is to get perspective. 500 would definitely be pretty weak.

The Avett Bros have been touring the last couple of years with John Prine opening. I remember seeing the reverse, the Avett Bros opening for Prine, many years ago. They did a cover for the Prine tribute album.

I will NOT be heading to the BRB during the Avetts as I was for MMJ, that's for sure. Can't see them hurting my ears or feelings as bad.

Never a good thing to get excited for an announced band only because someone might jump on stage and help them out. But there is that set history for the Avetts at Red Rocks and Mountain Jam with Bob Weir. Generally seems like a band that welcomes folks to stage.  

The other thing we have not had pop up on any of the announcements is "2 Sets". Maybe Avetts will only play one 90 minute set, for example. Almost time for someone much smarter than me to put together the Mock Schedule Tread...some people got pretty close last year, I thought.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday since we have a significant number of artists announced already. Almost sounds like you are volunteering. I found the spreadsheet yesterday...

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that the Avetts will only be playing one set.  Didn't know that about Bobby sitting in with them a few times, that would be cool.

Panic x2 I would think is a given and probably Cheese as well.  After that who knows, I could see Umphrey's getting two if one is a late night.
