Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
I'm with you but we may be in the minority. I have zero interest in a late night show especially while camping in August. I'm glad when bands I don't want to see play them, and resent it when good bands like JRAD play late, because I won't see them. To me, it disrespects a band's value to put them late, but that perspective admittedly is based on my value of late shows. You can't hoot with the owls and soar with the eagles. You can't hoot with the owls and soar with the eagles. You can't hoot with the owls and soar with the eagles. I know--better to be a live dog than a dead eagle. (remember the movie "Something Wild"?) I don't want to be a downer (and I'm not, thrilled by the lineup), but I'd just about rather see him in any configuration other than a solo looping show. I've seen the looping show and I kind of feel like I feel about every other person I've seen do a looping show.
It obviously takes talent and its kind of interesting, but when it comes right down to it I just think it is musically compromised. Just too much that can't be done with it.

It would be dumb if they didn't give JRAD a main stage spot this year IMO. If they really do have something against putting a Dead band with no original members in it on the main stage then they need to get over that.

Im with you. I got some listening to do which is part of why i love Lockn. Expand the horizons. I like what I hear so far from John Butler and JJ Grey. Maybe i have been living under a rock but i have never heard of Avett Bros and was shocked to hear people say they could be headlining. Didnt like what i heard from them on a quick review.

I really really like your optimistic cynicism. I have meant to say this a bunch of times and haven't. The splashes of sarcasm are well executed too. Good stuff, thanks!

CHECK YOUR RV PRIVILEGE MCCJEFF BRO!!
Seriously though, the green house effect is no laughing matter when you're trying to do it on the cheap. We're just about ready to pull the trigger on a teardrop, and although it's very affordable and won't be used just for Lockn, our camping fees are gonna go up exponentially. It's that or hotel though, because I can't take the not sleeping anymore, and I may not always have RJ to chauffeur me around.
If you weren't there you won't believe it, but Peach was even worse.

I have two Honda generators for festivals without power. But hey good news this is the first year ever Roo is having powered RV parking. August at Lockn is a bitch but June in TN is walking on the sun.

But nothing makes me say 'no, I'd rather not."
They were at AllGood almost every year, I listened to them play several times. Stayed for the whole thing more than once. It was pretty awful.
I'm kind of stunned there are people that like them. But, also, I think a lot of people grew up in really traumatic environments with terribly dysfunctional families, and it's great that they've managed to break that cycle, so I'm really glad that they've found something to enjoy.
They're just not for me.

I am confused by this assessment. Are you suggesting that Moe's fan base is made up of people who came from traumatic environments with terribly dysfunctional families? Or that in general, a lot of people grew up in really traumatic environments with terribly dysfunctional families and it's a good thing when they are able to find something that they enjoy....even if it's Moe?

I still consider myself young (35), but having an autoimmune disorder sure wipes you out even on lazy days. I would have loved to go all day and night, and it probably would have been possible if ADA transport were more available and reliable to the BRB. After a long day and trudging there I was exhausted and promptly fell asleep on the grass.
