Also, it may seem like the old classic bands are fading away and are being replaced by the next oldest bands, like mule and WSP.  Think about how long they've been around already!

In terms of headliners I would like to see DeadCo. Don't think it's gonna happen but I think I would put them above many of the bands that have been announced. Not old timers, but I would love to see the Last Waltz performed by an all star lineup. However, you are right many of the classics are fading away. I am sure that they are working on putting together some special surprises as that is one of the things that they have become known for right.

Make some room, as I am with Smosey on this one. That's why I was/am hoping for the Q and the Last Waltz.

Huge Wilco fan but having seen them at Lockn I would rather see them at a stand alone show, or at their own festival, Solid Sound, which goes on sale at 10:00 this morning.

Still not that familiar with Ween. Worf, bring some recordings and we can give them a listen in the foxhole.

JRAD was indeed fantastic, but latenights are never going to be my favorite sets at a fest like Lockn pretty much no matter who it is.  The BRB is awesome, but it doesn't have the grandiosity of the main stage.

It would be dumb if they didn't give JRAD a main stage spot this year IMO.  If they really do have something against putting a Dead band with no original members in it on the main stage then they need to get over that.

I'm with you but we may be in the minority. I have zero interest in a late night show especially while camping in August.  I'm glad when bands I don't want to see play them, and resent it when good bands like JRAD play late, because I won't see them.  To me, it disrespects a band's value to put them late, but that perspective admittedly is based on my value of late shows.

Apparently Frey was just on a local radio station a few minutes ago and mentioned that JRAD is playing two nights.

I'm sure at least one will be a late night.  Maybe both, but would just be kinda weird to have the same band play multiple late nights two years in a row.

Meh, the Keller morning shows are a little different I think since he's basically a local and it's happened every year.

But I'm not saying 2 JRAD late night shows won't happen, it probably will honestly. Just seems a shame to relegate them 100% completely to the smaller stage two years in a row.

Last year was the first year I really struggled to make it through late night shows (not counting the hurricane conditions during Umphreys at L3). Hopefully my stamina makes a return this year. I say give Jrad and UM two nights each each, one main stage and one late night. Jrad opens Thursday evening, Umph closes the main stage Thursday or second to last Friday. Then jrad late night Friday, Umph late night Saturday. Man this line up has me drooling

I think 6 is a little bit of a low estimate considering they're already announced for Wanee, 420 Fest, Lockn, and pretty much known to be playing Jazzfest.  But they'll definitely be playing a lot fewer than any other recent year and it's why I think they'll be the Sunday headliner at Lockn.

well that's consistent with a band that takes a break from touring but is not breaking up. You can expect the same from Dave Mathews Band. They have the luxury of picking the events they want to play, a very different drill than multi location shows night after night.

In fact the business model of the festivals is to have the crowd travel, not the bands, as they have done in Europe before our scene exploded. The early promoters of the big fests like Bonnaroo had watched the European model.   Now the new thing is the vacation destination festivals/shows.

I say "new" and that's not to say there haven't been music festivals for years, but not at the commercial level, size and frequency we have now.

JRAD playing two nights is another piece of amazing info. Keep em at late night or make sure they play at night on the main stage, I don't care. Late night shows the past three years have all been amazing.

- and I may be in the minority but minimal, if any, sit ins for JRAD. I'm just don't think Bob & Phil just don't want to play at the same speed

I love the late nights.  More casual, more intimate.  Very fun year 2, and my very favorite set year 3 was Umphrey's late night set.  Also one of the best sets I've ever seen Umphrey's do - they really shined in that venue like I don't think they would have on the main stage.  JRAD's late night sets last year definitely did not disappoint.
