Gotta say, I really expected Bobby to show up on that line up today. You guys think they're savin him for later? Or is the line up saturated at this point with Dead tunes?

IMO if/when Bobby is added he won't be playing Dead tunes anyway, he'll be playing his new album.

I actually really dug that band, they had a cool take on some Dead tunes, and I dug that album too.
I also hope they add something like North Mississippi Allstars. I never feel like they get enough credit, but I think they're a great fit for Lockn'
....And maybe in a slot thats not the second act after a seven hour line to get in to the festival like in '15.

Gotcha, I didn't know that about the Bobby show but it makes sense. I don't think Lockn will ever consider itself to be too saturated with Dead tunes though. I think I heard the Wheel 5 or 6 separate times last year, as an example. Not that there's anything wrong with that and I love that song, just sayin.

Also, it may seem like the old classic bands are fading away and are being replaced by the next oldest bands, like mule and WSP. Think about how long they've been around already!

Phish is my favorite band, but MMJ were the best band at the fest by a pretty wide margin. Definitely a more proper headlining band than anything on this year's lineup thus far.

Totally agree!! Something about NMA and Lockn.....just fits.
But to stay on topic...still processing the list but I haven't stopped smiling.

You misspelled JRAD as the best set played last year and MMJ was awesome

Ha! I believe it. I do like the way they did it as well. My thoughts on perfecting:
1. Move to a Saturday
2. Start about 2 pm
3. Announce one act every half hour. This gives more anticipation. It also gives time to digest, discuss and maybe throw on a few youtube clips.
4. Do the same the following saturday for the headliners but start at 9 pm.
The parties for this format would be legendary!

It would be dumb if they didn't give JRAD a main stage spot this year IMO. If they really do have something against putting a Dead band with no original members in it on the main stage then they need to get over that.

On another note this thread is 13 pages in one day. Don't know if that is a record but solid nonetheless...

That brings me a great deal of joy. It's shaping up that we might have a fair crew from Humboldt this year too. So far we are 8. It's early still, so if two back out and four more join we'll be 14 deep.
For those of you that are lost with festival math: those two tickets from the backouts can't spoil (~);}

"One shot for each rocker over 75 that is announced"..."One shot for each band in the lineup Phil will cover"...this idea could have legs.

Make some room, as I am with Smosey on this one. That's why I was/am hoping for the Q and the Last Waltz.
Huge Wilco fan but having seen them at Lockn I would rather see them at a stand alone show, or at their own festival, Solid Sound, which goes on sale at 10:00 this morning.
Still not that familiar with Ween. Worf, bring some recordings and we can give them a listen in the foxhole.

But there are some great collabs NMA could be a part of too.
Get Anders up there for the NMO collaboration, which kicks ass.
Got Medeski and Robert Randolph to play a set of The Word
And a mid-afternoon or morning set of Southern Soul Assembly with Luther, Anders, JJ Grey and Marc Broussard. Have you seen that? Its literally just those four guys sitting on stage taking turns playing each other's songs acoustically. Perfect for an early set.
But still, this isn't a critique, its a great initial line up.

Very pleased to see moe and Greensky get their Lockn moments. Both will be great fits for Lockn'. Same with JJ Grey and Mofro, Marcus King Band, as well as John Butler Trio...all three of whom could take the 2nd Annual "Hard Working Americans Award for Holy Shit You Had No Idea That Was Gonna Be So Good" sets.
I think there is zero chance you are NOT missing a couple substantial additions including at least one headliner because this is Lockn' and they are teasing that. So there is still a pleasant amount to look forward to...but there is definitely a lot less pressure on any future announcements than last year. I'd buy the ticket again today for this festival without any more additions.
Will be watching: Phil's Friends is always interesting, and there are some awesome ingredients already on site. I share a hope that CRB and TTB are there, but if they are not there is plenty here and still more to come. Classic Rock person or announced Collaboration? I also always look at Lockn' as a sum of its parts because of collaborations. I think they will go out of their way to breed a collaborative environment this year and the initial list of potential collaborators is melty goodness
