I'm not a fan of Wilco personally, but I don't think that they are thaaat far out of line. They actually jam out a bit in their live shows. I'd rather have someone like My Morning Jacket, but who's to say the bands we want aren't right around the corner?
I guess this is the flaw in announcing one band per day. Everyone is going to find at least one or two days a bit anticlimactic. I can't say I'm pumped about Wilco, but I'm actually glad we got their announcement out of the way (since we knew about them a few weeks ago). Nonetheless, I like this way of doing things. I'm looking forward to the entire week thanks to Lockn'. It's like I get a little present every day at noon. There are some really great possibilities on the horizon - not sure if you guys saw this or not, but they actually were negotiating with Umphrey's (according to the same person who confirmed Wilco and a bunch of other bands). Based on the nature of this festival, I'm sure they made a run at bands like Yonder Mountain and Moe.. Not to mention the impending addition of Grateful Grass . . . this festival is still going to be one of the (if not the) jammiest fests going.

When I listen to their stuff, I get a lot more "alt" than "country."
I guess in the end the promoters never promised us anything more than a festival they'd like to see. I still defend Willie, and I'm not as bummed as Bill, but if Vibes had Phil or Bobby I might be looking at it a lot closer.

Next thing ya know they'll be announcing an appearance by katie perry, adel, or lady gaga.
Oh well, I do like to sleep late. Perhaps scheduling a bunch of crappy bands isn't such a bad thing. Please, Shuckinlockn' promoter people, turn the volume down on this afternoon filler crap so I'll get a good days rest. I just feel like there is so much good music out there we shouldn't have to endure that which isn't.

Look, I appreciate a festival wanting to cater to a wide variety of musical tastes, however, Dave Frey and his pal started Interlocken supposedly to do something new and different. This seems to be turning into the same old thing, that is, "let's throw a wide variety of crap up on the stage to draw and many different people as we can to maximize our profit". We probably won't ever agree on this, but my money was spent in anticipation getting what I was promised, the ultimate jam band experience. What I'm getting is significantly less than what I was promised.
P.S. To Mr. Frey and company, enough bullshit, where's the rock'n'roll?

"He's got to be talking about Gary Clark Jr." No, Gary Clark jr. isn't old and he gets off.

I like folks drawing the line in the sand on Wilco.
That's because Wilco is top 40 crap, AND thay've been given 2 nights.

Wilco fucking rock. As is the case with most jambands (though Wilco is not a jamband per se), if you have not seen them live then your opinion is pretty much useless. That being said, if Wilco aren't your thing then that's totally fine. The thing that bothers me is this idea that they are "top 40 crap." Making a statement like that is a surefire sign of ignorance. Wilco have never had a Top 40 song. They have never had anything close to a Top 40 song. They do not get airplay on mainstream radio, they do not have videos that play on any TV stations. Wilco are a band that have achieved a high level of popularity on the strength of their ALBUMS and their LIVE SHOWS. Period.
I think they are perfect addition for Lockn and I'm excited to see all of the new fans they'll have after two nights of Nels Cline's magic. But like I said, it might not be your thing. Just go into it with an open mind, because this is not pop music or anything even close to it. Anyone that suggests that is totally ignorant of Wilco, and probably music in general. Just because they weren't on HORDE tour/making music the 60s doesn't mean they aren't worth your time.
