This has probably been discussed already, so I apologize if it has- but I saw on Keller Williams' site that the Sunday "Grateful Gospel" set he is scheduled to play is with John Kadlecik. I wonder if that is still the case.

I was wondering this same thing.
I really hope he is. they can't just scratch that kinda talent off the board. if he is still there then we can hope for a sit in with Phil

I don't think anyone has to worry about John K.
In case you weren't keeping up with it at the time, Grateful Gospel (w/ John Kadelick) was announced months before Furthur was added to the lineup. I don't think his appearance was contingent upon Furthur's booking whatsoever.

I'm betting John K. Plays with Phil Saturday night. Phil has had John play with two other guitarist in the past.

i'm pretty much just looking forward to the hits, but i'm definitely looking forward to them. i think you'd be surprised how big of a pull petty might be for those less hardcore into the jam festival scene

I figured it was unlikely. We'll see how it goes, but I feel like the extra time is wasted on an act that could literally play 6 songs and everyone would feel like they got their money's worth from them. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt Tom Petty is one of the main draws for the fest even if he's billed as a headliner.

I'm the opposite. I'm a HUGE Petty fan and I think the new album may be the weakest thing he's ever done, that or the last album for 2010. I guess he finally lost his touch, he held it fro a LONG time though. Highway Companion is one of my favorite albums of all time and that was 2006.

Opposite again, haha. WSP can play, that's for sure, but I can't get into them to save my life. Petty on the other hand is one of my favorites. But not for his hits, specifically for his deep cuts. Pettys hits are ok, some are pretty boring/overplayed (mary janes last dance, refugees, american girl) but the deep cuts ESPECIALLY from Wildflowers and Highway Companion and Southern Accents is awesome. I'd be down for a 5 hour petty set id he dug into those, but it won't happen :/Playing late into the night is great. How will the new and improved late night offerings affect this? Will they run tighter cutoff times to accomodate two late night stages? Don't get me wrong, I think he'll end up playing until 1:00 am. However, I don't see his set exceeding 2 hours, simply based on the number of bands scheduled that day and my experience last year.
They're smart about the schedule. Last year the Lockn' app had shows scheduled until 11:00 or 12:00 each night, but the music always exceeded that. I'm sure they have a ton of motivations for "underscheduling" - psychologically, it makes the patrons feel like they got "more," even though the plan was to play until 1:00 am all along; additionally, it gives them a bit of a buffer from the curfew in case things run late (as they did on Thursday last year).
So when you look at the mock schedule I made, assume the last act will actually play until nearly 1:00 am (except for Sunday, where I think it will be midnight).
Assuming they allow overrun for the last main stage set, is there any chance that the order listed on the Lockn lineup isn't the final order? On Saturday, for example, if I'm going to get an extra hour of music, I would GREATLY prefer an extra hour from Widespread Panic than an extra hour of Tom Petty fumbling to find something from the deep cuts of his catalogue. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see Petty, but my enthusiasm for Petty is limited to the hits. I've never once wanted to see a Tom Petty jam.
What are the odds we get Panic playing last on Saturday or am I just dreaming?

Petty was a huge draw, second to Furthur for me. Without petty and the absence of furthur I would have went for the refund. Heck, after Petty was announced was when I said "ok this is just ridiculous I'm going to this fest" so without him I may have not even purchased tickets. But this is why they schedule different types of musical acts. I am not a Panic fan at all. Just never got them. Not a huge Tom Petty fan either, but I would "literally" like to hear more than 6 songs from his catalog, so not everyone would get their moneys worth after 6 songs. There is a purported schedule with times for sets up on a Widespread Panic Facebook Group I am a member of. Can't figure out how to attch it here. It is basically 1 hour sets for some of the openers and 1.5 after that.

2 on Thursday, 12 on other days. Midnight stop time on Thurs-Sat and 10 on Sunday. Late nights scheduled for 12-2 (simultaneously)
Early Triangle scheduled 11-12 AM.

Fair enough.
Not that anything we wish for makes any difference, but I would like to see more than 2 hours of ABB. That's an early stop, too.
Back in the old days bands would wander on whenever and play until whenever, short or long. Nowadays the "back stage" doesn't work
that way. Too many other things are scheduled besides the musicisns that "if the roadies don't mind...one more song..." is just a
romantic notion.

So is there really no pause at all between bands? Don't get me wrong, I know this is the whole idea of the fest and I'm all for cutting out lengthy intermissions so that everyone can play longer (I'm usually not even into festivals because 45 minutes sets are unsatisfying) But is it really that instantaneous? I think 5 minutes, MAYBE 10 tops, gaps would be an awesome compromise, just enough time to hit the bathroom, race to the other stage and change my musical state of mind. There's literally not one act on the entire lineup that has me saying "I want to skip them"... so I'm planning for very little downtime! The way Im gonna look at it is that any time I have to leave during a band is time that another festival wouldnt even have someone on stage...and I'd definitely rather have people playing constantly and miss a bit then to have music-less periods of roadies setting up!

Gonna be interesting. I bet some bands find it a challenge to so rapidly follow the closing intensity of the previous band

I dont like the possibility of phil only playing for an hour and a half. 2 hours would be much better. hopefully ABB will play a little more than 2 hours on sunday as well.
