The other day in Music City

[The Other One]

A man walked up to me Wednesday in Nashville and asked if I would buy him some food. I was heading to Martin's for BBQ so I told him if he came with me I would buy him a meal. We ordered and then we sat and shared a meal. He apologized for his hygiene/body odor and his clothes. I told him not to worry about it, enjoy his meal. He teared up. So did I. He told me briefly of his life story. time in prison, parole. He had just gotten a job and wasn't sure how to get stuff like shoes that he needed for work. I finished my meal, shook his hand, wished him luck and said this is where we part friends.

I can't stop thinking about him. Could I have done more? Should I have done more? Where did he sleep that night, or last night, or tonight. I can't stop thinking about him, but I know I'll never see him again...

This is wonderful. Life is hard, and harder for many.

Out here we are plagued with homeless druggies that will steal anything that’s not bolted down and they seem to collect garbage to pile up and leave behind. They have no respect for traffic rules. I know there are a few that are an exception but I’ve become really calloused to their plight. I’m glad you met a good one.
