Band announcements

Gov't Mule is touring in August with Galactic listed as a "special guest." I wonder if that is who Mule's special guest will be for Lockn'. Seems those two bands would complement each other well.

I really hope its something more interesting than that honestly. Galactic's drummer is awesome so maybe an allman brothers two drummers type thing with Stanton moore would be cool and i really like their bassist, but overall you could get better options IMO for a "special guest" slot.

If you look on Mule's tour page (http://mule.net/upcoming-shows/) every other time there is another band on the bill it says "with" but for all the Galactic shows it says "with special guest." So to me it sounds like they are combining but I don't know for sure. And the tour starts early August, runs through the Peach festival (where I believe Mule's set is listed as "and friends"), then ends right before Lockn'.

I'm not saying it's a best case scenario or anything, especially given all the talent that will already be at Lockn'. Just saying Mule + Galactic as special guests is plausible for the above reasons.

ya but there are better horns to choose I think.  Galactic doesn't only hasone horn I think anyway.  Maybe it can be like a single horned mule... A Mulenicorn? (

Only one really in the band (sax), but they generally tour with a second (usually Corey Henry on trombone).

I saw Trombone Shorty play with Galactic once.  Until that day I did not know you could play 128th notes on a bone.

There is a brief mention of Weir/Lesh playing together at Lockn in this weeks Rolling Stone.  Apparently, until the reporter asked him about it, Weir was unaware they would be playing Terrapin Station at Lockn.

Weir would likely be unaware they were playing it while they were playing it.

Ya makes sense, i haven't paid a ton of attention to them lately - even though i see them twice a year at various festivals around town - they also have been touring with some singers from around Louisiana - Maggie Khoerner (sp?) being one.

Not to be too big a skeptic but I don't see anything on an admittedly brief search. And I have too much respect for photoshop skills to believe any online image of a poster with tour dates that isn't on Bob's site or Relix or JamBase or Live for Live Music or something like that. Hope it does happen but until I see something more concrete I am going to remain skeptical.

I agree. All the dates listed are in April other than Arrington, then he goes on tour with D & C. So it seems that wouldnt be part of the same April tour.
