Band announcements

You never know which announcement will spur ticket sales. i have a friend that has told me each year that he is coming to Lockn and never has. This year is the year. Asked him what changed his mind and he said the announcement of John Fogerty. Now that may not excite a lot of you but my friend is 65, grew up listening to CCR, maybe even saw them live and is thrilled to see Fogerty. Nostalgia, right? Once he sees what else Lockn has in store he could be a regular or be a one and done like some other folks I know.

^True. I bought my first ticket after they announced Grace Potter. I was probably going anyway and was keeping a watch on the lineup announcements, but that was the one that put it over the top.

For me (obviously) it was Ween. It was on my radar but you're right, it takes certain acts to make some pull the trigger. My other faves (Brandi, Keller, Gary Clark, Phish) I can see anywhere. But when you put them all in one place AND add Ween, I am there come hell or high water. 

Considering a solo six hour drive to see them in Michigan in June. Nick can't get off of work and its the closest they're playing next. It should be interesting.

That doesn't really surprise me, how come he didn't go the first time Fogerty was there though?

Its a good call he didn't Fogerty only played like 8 songs if I remember correctly (yes I was upset Fogerty didn't play the whole set)

Gotcha. Just sayin, Fogerty is great. Glad he's getting his own set this time.

Yea 2013 wasn't really John Fogerty - it was "Widespread Panic w/ John Fogery sitting in". I could also see why that wouldn't be enough for a CCR fan to drop all that money for a weekend pass (although maybe a day pass).

I was really taken aback by all the people I met in 2014 that came (some from pretty far) JUST to see Tom Petty. I hope they weren't disappointed (I certainly was, even though I good memories of Petty concerts from back in the '80's. Maybe BECAUSE of that).

Petty was also much better at the Hangout in 2013 when I saw him so i don't think it was a case of not living up to nostalgia due to age, just not quite the best day for him...

Fair enough, I was not up front I just remember they kept showing the same girl on the screens during American Girl encore and I thought he handed her his guitar but I was also not sober so I could easily be mistaken

I think the girl was Courtney Cox?

Anyway recall that Petty went on late and cut his show short due to the storm that shut us down for about an hour and a half. WSP planned to do a set alone then a set with Winwood, but decided to shorten their set and just do it with Winwood. Also to keep Phil from grabbing the mic and singing 20,000 Headmen. So Petty was good and toasted when he got up there.

I see that Ben Harper is finishing up a European tour on Aug. 19th. He just added a Delaware gig on the 22th, hoping I'm reading this right, might be an addition for Lockn.

I'm glad people can get day passes, but honestly I don't see the value proposition in it.  

It's only "worth" it if you for whatever reason can't go to the whole fest. Definitely not worth it just to see one or two specific acts just because to hell with everything else.

Next year I'll probably just buy a 'Lumni ticket right off the bat and then just wait until the schedule comes out and even if I can only go to half the fest it's basically still worth it versus any day pass combo.

I really enjoyed Petty in 2014.
Maybe because I had never seen him live.
Not sure why as I was a fan from the first time I heard Dam the Torpedoes.
But, it was fun hearing all his hits back to back and the LOCKN' atmosphere probably had a lot to do with it (2014 was my first LOCKN' - went with my son and a few good friends and it was magic).

I was reading an article on Jambase this morning about Panic with Jimmy Cliff from '15. Whether they were mistaking or let something slip I don't know, but at the end of the article it said WSMFP would play twice this year at Lockn.

I expect either a guest (Santana would be righteous for so many reasons) with WSP unless they put in a stand-alone--TTB or a collaboration. A Butch Trucks tribute is an intriguing idea.

They probably will play "twice" as in two different sets on Saturday. Wouldn't be surprised if one was with a guest. Would be surprised if they played on Saturday and also on a different day though, just because I don't see where it would fit.
