Apple granted patent to disable cameras

Cant create my own posts yet so wasn't sure where to post this. Since I have never wasted time recording a concert, nor will I, I don't have a problem with the concept itself although it opens up a slew of other things that they could start detecting. BTW, I am glad they posted the intricate sketches of what it will look like since I could not quite grasp the concept.

A blessing.  Won't have to waste 2 minutes and an insincere compliment after watching a coworkers crappy concert video.  You know, ear-achingly bad sound and a teeny tiny image of a human like figure on a stage surrounded by over exposed lights.

Whatever your feelings about recording parts of shows on your cellphone, I feel like there are a lot more reasons not to do this than there are to do it. Lots of unintended consequences, and if this was actually put out to market there is no reason to think it would only be used at concert venues. Don't think I want just anyone who can get their hands on it (legally or illegally) to be able to disable my phone's camera function.

Yup, cops hate it when you record interactions with your phone.  You think they wouldn't disable cameras if they could?

I find watching a band through the opening of someone's upraised arms, and under their tiny screen, as annoying as flags, totems and cardboard cut-outs. Somehow, their arms often get jostled if I am close enough.
