Yes, to rain gear.  Mid september is a little early for hurricanes but it is definitely possible.

Hurricane season in the Atlantic begins June 1st and ends November 30th. The Eastern Pacific hurricane season begins May 15th and also ends November 30th."

ALWAYS pack your rain boots. Last year I got to Camp Barefoot and realized that all I had was my good Merrills and my rain boots. Even tho it is called Camp Barefoot totally shoeless is not an option. It was then that I discovered that yes indeed, you can dance all weekend in your rain boots. So, if I can only have one pair of foot ware I will opt for rain boots.

My trusty pair of plain and simple $5 little boys rain boots from Walmart have gotten me through many a festival, rain or shine. I made the unfortunate mistake of leaving them in my hot car a couple months ago and they melted. They must be replaced before Lockn.

I have enormous calves, so I can't wear wellies. Anybody got a cheap alternative, but not as cheap as bags?

 I've had the same problem over the years looking for something simple just to keep my feet dry. I don't want to walk across the country or mountain climb. Your right they've gone crazy.

Look up what hurricane Camille did to Nelson County in the mid 1970's. 

I have over 50 years experience w/ Virginia weather. Aug/Sept is when we get hurricanes, and the effects are always worse inland and upland that on the coast. If it's real bad they'll cancel but if not it will be a soggy mess.  First oppressive humidity. then sheets of rain and ground flooding.  Then clear cool sunny weather.

Pack real rain gear including rain pants, and know how to set up a tent that won't flood.  Have a real groundcloth under it, too. And real rain shoes; trenchfoot is no fun for dancing.

With all the local consciousness it would be great if someone organized a collection point for camping gear and then distribution through Foodbank to the local folks who need help, or charity camps, etc.

Thanks for the solid info, smosey! See you in September. Oregonians don't even own umbrellas, but we'll bring gear anyhow. Just hate flying w/ stuff we *may* not use, however, it'll be great to have if a storm happens.

I've got a little black book with my poems in.
Got a bag with a toothbrush and a comb in.
When I'm a good dog, they sometimes throw me a bone in.

Here are some of the items I will be bringing this year
based on what I learned last year from not having.


Many of those small 50ml plastic "nip" bottles of my favorite vodkas
that fit perfectly in my pants waist, groin, or other discreet areas when needed.

A couple of Portable 10,000mah battery chargers so I can charge up my cell phone, bluetooth boombox,
and vaporizers. Was a pain in the ass using the car charger last year.

An empty 5 gallon bucket with a toilet lid and some Walmart bags, (gotta be Walmart) to poop
in just in case the port-a-potty's are way too nasty, or an after strong coffee morning emergency.

A flag pole with a banner and a bunch of solar christmas lights so me and my neighbors can
find our happy ass's home every night. Last year I had only one solar light on a pole
and it was hard to see from a distance unless you weren't drunk and you squinted.

not saying it's the BEST coffee, but for the amount of effort it takes, it's certainly the best taste:effort ratio. for what it's worth, i was a coffee master at starbucks for 8 years. make fun all you want, but i've got a solid coffee background, lol
