That MMJ set from one year and the Joe Cocker tribute from another were just one of those in a lifetime moments that I can't fathom how it didn't move everyone. I respect musical differences, as opposed to other differences, though.

Fair enough on all counts and rewatching them doesn't have the same effect...But at the time and in that moment I wish the world could have felt what I did. Wasn't drunk or drug induced though certainly was enhanced but man, was it magical.

you can get those musical magical moments when a groove hits just right regardless of the band--I have had them with the greats, with the amazing shows like MD&E, and sometimes bands I otherwise don't like or who are just meh. But one that stands out was from 20 years ago, a bar "hobby" band of 45-60 year old dads and a 20 yo female bartender sang Gershwin's "Summertime." Remember it like yesterday.

I'm with you guys. I keep asking myself how can I be so "meh" about such a musical moment according to the masses. I have tried listening to MMJ songs on various occasions since lockn', but almost always never get to the end of the song. Obviously, I just don't get them. To those who do, enjoy! 😊

I think the reason I like them is I consider them a classic rock band. There are few, if any, out there anymore that can bring it like they do. They are not a jamband and they rarely go off script but they are powerful and just rock. Not unlike the classics, Stones, Floyd, The Who, etc. Now I can hear the gasps already. Trust me, I am not putting them on that level. I am just saying its refreshing to go back to the basics sometimes. To each his own. Merry Christmas everybody!!!
