Hello everyone - I have been missing in action for the last 3 months.  I have retired, moved out of my apartment onto my boat and headed south.  Destination: The Bahamas.

Some background - I have done this trip 3 times in the past in 2000-2001, 2003-2004 and 2005-2006.  Now I am at it again.

I left Annapolis, MD on 11/7 and am currently in Solomons Island MD, waiting out some bad weather.  It's freezing and the wind is howling in the rigging.  I staying at the marina with the heat blasting.

Anyway, I hope you find the trip at least mildly interesting, and free free to ask any questions you might have.

I have done almost no sailing so far.  But that's normal.  The ICW is mostly too narrow to sail, so it's all been under power.  A few times I have rolled out the headsail to try to add a little speed.  

On that particular segment offshore the wind was light and mostly on the nose.

The idea here, having done this before and seen most of the sights, is to blow down to the Bahamas as fast as possible where the real fun will start.  We have been having all kinds of issues - from holidays, bad weather, mechanical issues, fog and a continued lack of marina space.  (Really bad in Florida, but as the weather warms up anchoring is more of an option now.)

The pic was taken by my new friends Rick and Cheryl on Odyssey II (and Gerry on Sea Lion), I met them in over Christmas at Bohicket Marina and we have been hanging together ever since.  It's a lot more fun to travel with people, not to mention the additional support nearby.
